smiles and firsts

Life with Callie is starting to become the new normal around here. Well, sort of. David is out of town this week and I was already at the doctor Monday afternoon with Callie. Apparently she is allergic to the formula she got on Thursday while I was away for a while. I now get to join the dreaded Nutramagen club when we get there. Lets just say its not the club I wanted to be in. Other than that, we are managing just fine. Callie and Taylor are still loving each other so much. Callie smiles more than I even knew infants could smile, but none are bigger than the ones staring at Taylor. She looks around for her when she hears that voice..we will see how long we get before the girl fights start!

This was our first Sunday at church several weeks ago. It was a great day!

Taylor has a new favorite activity...the bean box. A neighbor gave me the idea and I never knew how much fun playing with a box full of beans could be...we're talking hours! It's pretty wonderful. When I took this picture, she was in the box with her silly face making my cheese
quesidilla at Blue Coast. You think we eat there too much?!

Here Taytay is dressed up like Fancy Nancy. It is a series of books that Taylor loves! Nancy tries to make her family fancy because they are too plain. She went on my closet and came out like that...notice the hand on her hip. ATTITUDE!!!!

The top pic is Callie's First bath and the bottom one was Taylor's. They look totally different! I laughed looking for Taylors picture because we only have 2 pictures from the event and this is the one where she is crying the least, oh how I remember those days!  It makes me even more thankful for today...lovin' on my girls!

July fourth fun!

I know this is record posting time for me, but I thought I would try to surprise everyone...and don't think it's going to happen again! We had a wonderful and exhausting day yesterday. We started out with the neighborhood parade, which we really enjoy every year. In Taylor's opinion, the best part is the decorating her car and the popsicle at the end!

Later that afternoon, we headed over to the Evans house for grilling out and playing for the kids. We had a great time being with friends and enjoying the day. Taylor sat in a huge pile of mustard while she was eating which is why she is without shorts for the pictures. I promise, I usually put bottoms on her!
Taylor with her friends, Campbell and Carter.

All the kids...

We finished out the evening at our house playing in the cul-de-sac with the Latta's. We introduced sparklers to the girls and watched fireworks on the back porch. It was a great day! Taylor was so dirty by this last picture, bathtime was a must! Thanks to all of our friends for helping make it a great day!

Layin' around

That's pretty much what we have been doing....well, Taylor and Callie anyway! Every time I set Callie down and leave the room, I re-enter finding Callie having a visitor.  Taylor is always laying right next to her! It is funny and cute all at the same time. Taylor may not even be in the same room with her, but she seems to always find the moment she is on the ground and seize the opportunity to lay down also. Here are a few of the moments I have caught...

Callie has gotten so much bigger! She is bright eyed happy most of the time...we are so thankful!

TayTay trying to make it all better....

Callie finding her thumb. She loves it once she has it, but can't seem to find it when she wants it!

Taylor playing in this cool sprinkler she got. The sunglasses are her idea to keep the water out of them. She prefers to drink the water as opposed to running through it.

About the sweetest picture I have ever seen! Callie loves hearing Taylor's voice and searches around for it. I love seeing them together!!

better late than never

i know, i should be fired from blogging, but it is better late than never. Callie is here! She was born May 29 at 7:21 am. My induction was scheduled that morning at 7:30, but my children like to do things on their own time. I made it to the hospital in time, which was my biggest fear. She topped the scales at 5 ib and 15oz and was 19 inches long. Life with 2 children has been pretty wonderful so far. We keep waiting for Callie to start crying and just not stop, but she hasnt! We went for her 2 week appointment Thursday and she is now 6lb 13 oz and all was good. Taylor is doing great with the adjustment, but David has been home most of the time since she was born. Monday he starts back, so we will see how she makes it then (or how I make it)! Thanks for all your emails and calls and visits...we love them all! here are some pictures of our first couple of weeks...

Tay Tay's Day

Last Friday Taylor had a special day with mommy and daddy before baby Callie arrives. David had the day off, so we tried to think of all the wonderful things that thrill this girl. We started off with going out to breakfast to eat pancakes. Then we went to the park, which she thinks is awesome. Then we went to Pump it Up, which is an inflatable play area. It has great slides, but she prefers standing in one spot jumping up and down. She did manage to go down the slide a couple of times with daddy, but jumping up and down in the same spot is her favorite. We then called for a lunch and nap break to help a very tired little girl. After she was ready to go again, we went down to the creek around our house. It is a short walk away and a lifetime of fun for her! She would go there every day and stay there all day if she could. She threw rocks in the water, pretended to go fishing, and went walking in the water. She even saw fish and crawdads which immediatley made her jump in David's arms. It was such a fun and exhausting day and the three of us had the best time being just the three of us! I promise I was there for all of it, I am just hating any pictures of my swollen face these days! Callie is making her arrival this Thursday if she does not decide to come sooner, so we will post updates when we have them!

Oops!!!!

I forgot to add a picture of Taylor on her new ride. David saw this at the store and couldn't resist. Every Whitfield needs a four-wheeler in his opinion. He gave it to her at her Big Sister Party, and she has been driving ever since!

What we've been doing...

I thought I would give a brief glimpse of what we have been up to the past couple of weeks. Life has been pretty busy, but it has been so much fun. Taylor is preparing for her big sister duties that will be coming soon, and she is so excited. She has been "helping" me get everything ready for this new arrival and has really been a trooper through it all! She asks for her baby sister to come home with her every day, and has already picked out her seat at the dinner table.
This is Taylor's interpretation of me these days...big belly that she is holding on tight to. She thought it was so funny to put a balloon in her belly to be like me. If only my legs were that skinny!

We also ordered a bunch of bows that came in the mail and you would have thought it was Christmas. She was so excited about putting all of them in her hair and then she decided that I really needed some too.

...Comparing belly sizes

David and Taylor on the carosel at the zoo. David has finally slowed down from busy season and Taylor has loved having her daddy back. We went to the zoo one day and she was extatic to ride on the carosel with him. This is a big step from last year when she screamed the entire ride!

Taylor had a Big Sister Party last week over at Uncle Brad and Aunt Jessi's house. She had the best time being with family and playing outside. She has been talking about it constantly since then.

Taylor and daddy dancing "like Cinderella and the prince." She wants to do the Cinderella dance constantly and has the biggest grin on her face every time she talks someone into doing it with her.

Taylor with her new sidekick, Sally. Aunt Jessi gave her to Taylor at the party, and she has not left her side since. She puts Sally down every night in her bed and gets her out  first thing in the morning. Pretty much they go everywhere together!
